The St. Marys Water Treatment Facility required an administrative flooring solution that could withstand more than just standard foot traffic. Typical commercial coatings often fail in municipal environments due to high moisture vapor transmission (MVT), which leads to bubbling and delamination of the surface. Additionally, standard flooring installations with 90-degree baseboard joints create "dirt traps" that are difficult to sanitize and maintain. The facility needed a high-performance system that offered total moisture immunity, seamless hygiene, and long-term durability.
FX Coating engineered a hybrid "Asset Defense" strategy using our proprietary FX Shield™ system, moving beyond cosmetic paint to install a multi-layered mortar designed for decades of service. We began with shot blasting to a CSP-5 profile to ensure a permanent mechanical bond before applying a moisture-tolerant base of Tnemec N242 Polyurethane Concrete. This core was reinforced with a full broadcast of Industrial Sand Quartz for high-traction safety and sealed with a chemical-resistant Tnemec N222 topcoat in 33GR Gray. By integrating a Rolled Radius Cove that curves the FX Shield™ four inches up the wall, we created a completely seamless, wash-down ready environment that eliminates future repair costs and secures a long-term return on infrastructure investment.

You can tell when people genuinely care and follow through on their word, and that’s exactly what the team at FX Coating does. They consistently give their best effort and do what it takes to get the job done well.
